mapping out breakfast.

J is for veJ.

I like all these textures together.

I took a drive out to the mountains. The mist was rolling in.

Sadly, the weather is getting colder. Time to turn the heat on when the top is down.

Homemade! One of my best-looking pies yet.

Time to recycle! I wish we had curbside recycling here.

I watched this recently. It made me so ill that I almost stopped watching it before the end. Fabricated News (aka, Fox News) is anything but news... Many of the people interviewed during the documentary were past employees, so it must be frighteningly accurate.

...ain't this the truth...lol

Hello there guys! They've finally come up. Playing with the new cam at work...it's interesting to look at the short depth of field the macro lens gets.

Peeking out.

Moving past Dick & Jane

Can this be true? The blog below has posted what is supposedly on Bush's summer reading list. I have a hard time picturing it. Perhaps Laura reads to him when they snuggle in at night.

Anything fun on your summer reading lists?

Absence of Leadership

Who is in control of our country? It was Tuesday, a day or two after a known Category 4/5 hurricane hit New Orleans and our esteemed President had just cut his month-long summer vacation short. But first he had to go play the guitar in CA. Why hadn't he cut his vacation short *before* the hurricane hit? Americans were dying in New Orleans and in Iraq, but the pres. was still on vacation. (AP Photo/ABC News, Martha Raddatz, 9.2.05)

Everyone is throwing around excuses that it's difficult to get equipment in or they didn't know it was going to be that bad in New Orleans. Liars, all of them. We've known for years that New Orleans was one of the worst places in the country for a natural disaster to occur. We knew for weeks that Katrina was out there and knew for days before it struck that it was Category 4/5 and headed towards the New Orleans area.

Surely the city had mitigation and evacuation plans for a hurricane and subsequent flooding. It's been five days and no semblance of a plan is apparent. Why weren't supplies and troops ready to go the day after the storm struck? Does it really take 4+ days to mobilize National Guard Troops--even when you have notice that they might be needed?

There is no excuse for what is happening in New Orleans. This is utter incompetence on the part of the President of the United States, the Governor of Louisiana, and the director of FEMA. None of them have a grasp on the situation nor the capability to make things happen. We see them on television, but they instill no confidence in us and talk nebulously about what's happening because they are unable to deal with such an emergency.

I never really liked the guy, but remember Rudy Guliani? After 9/11 *he* was on the streets of NYC reassuring people that things were under control, that everything was ok, that we could work together and come through that emergency. On 9/11 and the days after, Rudy Guliani was the leader pulling us through. Then, like now, George Bush is hardly seen.

We need real leadership NOW.

Religious Right: Whacked as Usual

way to reach out to people in need...how christian of you:

-------------------------

An organisation of Christian fundamentalists claims the destruction brought on by Hurricane Katrina is God's judgment against New Orleans for holding festivals like the annual gay Southern Decadence party.

"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," said Repent America director Michael Marcavage on the organisation's Web site.

"From 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Southern Decadence,' New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. May it never be the same."
