The other night a storm rolled through the neighborhood at sunset. I had to run outside with my camera to grab a few shots. Every few seconds brought some new shape to look at until the sky finally turned pink and then faded with the sunset.

I never knew portulaca grew wild. These plants came up in the cracks in the pavement and I left them there. Last year my housemate had planted white portulaca nearby.

Hello, morning glory!

The other day I made a very meaty meal with seitan. It is protein-rich wheat gluten that is leftover after you knead a ball of dough underwater. Then I simmered it in a savory broth to make it tender and flavorful.
