At 215' high, Taughannock Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. When I was little, you could walk on the rocks all the way up toward the waterfall. Then they decided it wasn't too safe when rocks fell from the 400' cliffs, which curve in and over the gorge. When I was here last, there was a drought that fall and there was nothing but a trickle going over. Posted by Picasa

Hey, when we were there it was dry! I feel cheated. There's a hell of a lot of water there now.
